A lullaby.
A soft hum softly floating within the hollow walls of the castle, a faint, musical whisper, carrying the sweet, melancholy tune out into the magnificent solitude of the fortress only to fade into inevitable silence, you with a voice no louder than a bird’s gently swayed as you sung your master to sleep. After many a tumultuous battle with the ravenous fiends of hell lurking about the corridors of this bastion, a minute of peace would rejuvenate his tired spirit.
You were more than happy to oblige. After all, a good familiar obeyed his or her master’s every wish, no matter how small or great.
Here, the goddess of happiness cries, and in this time this lullaby,
Sings her song of the dream she has, the sadness fills her eyes...
Chin tucked to his cravat, legs crossed and arms loosely folded in his lap, lips slightly parted, his breathing slowed into deep sighs. His blood tainted sword glimmered beneath the clouded light of the moon shining through the window of the chapel. His long, pale locks framed his beautiful, porcelain face now soft and relaxed, and his shoulders slumped as if finally putting aside the ponderous burden of his immortality, just for a moment.
With a little smile, you gazed at him, memorizing every detail of his form. Your tiny heart fluttered with delight at the notion that your song soothed him so.
If only there was more you could do for him...
But, what could a humble familiar provide the Vampire Prince, an entity with already immeasurable strength?
Even more perplexing, why would he choose to bring you along on this perilous journey?
While you pointed out secrets and hidden passageways and healed him in an emergency situation, such assistances seemed so minuscule in the grand scheme of things.
Why did insist on choosing you to accompany him in personal war?
What true use were you to him?
End of love, love is gone. No more dreams to dream about, so life is done...
If it's so, cut the thread, it's time to let it go...
A soft rain quietly pattered against the window, and a quiet rumble of thunder echoed throughout the chamber. Hesitantly, you inched higher on your master’s shoulder, closer to his ear, ensuring he could still perceive your tiny voice.
Though he appeared to be lost in his world of dreams, you still wanted so much to reach out for him, to follow him even into sleep.
Instead, you sang your lullaby. Rocking side to side within the crook of his shoulder, you surrounded yourself in his scent and warmth. Despite carrying the blood of his father, Dracula, the King of the Undead, he still managed to retain the enticing heat of a human body. Experiencing this at such a close proximity sent shivers down your spine and a flush to your cheeks.
Such thoughts should not even cross the threshold of your mind. Surely, it was forbidden for any kind of servant to harbor feelings for a master.
Still, you admired his determination to fight, even when his heart was still so broken and torn with grief. You respected his desire for justice, even if it meant destroying his own kin. You cherished the love he still clung to for the mother he watched die at the hands of a monstrous people, refusing to take revenge upon them.
Despite your own sadness, you were honored to serve him, and you would sacrifice your entire being if it proved beneficial to your master.
You would rather live a life of secret heartache, suffering in silence, than to leave his side.
Tears, they flow to the thirst of the gods, the ocean's roars drowned out by rain.
Blameless wolf carries on alone, the silence now surrounds him..
In perfect serenity, his body fell limp in his chair. All thoughts of the battles to come completely left his mind, and you finally wrapped him in a peaceful oblivion with your song. Gently touching his cheek, you ever so slightly brushed your lips against his jaw. Of course, he was too deep into sleep to notice, but it made your heart dance showing the tiniest bit of affection to your beloved master.
You failed to understand his reason for bringing you, but why worry?
You were with him now,
and you would fulfill his ever last need of you,
down to your last dying breath,
even if it only meant singing him to an eternal sleep, when he completed his mission once and for all.
Sooner than dreaming ends, morning of the dawn will bring another day.
Turn around. You have found a different place to dream...

Mute | Hugue de Watteau x Child!Reader
A vast sea of color ranging from pinks, to blues, and even whites captivated opaque irises; the smell of linen and fresh rainfall tickling the senses. The sun glistened off pearlescent droplets taken refuge on the lily petals, and brought lively light into the eyes of a child unable to express the elation of the sight.
No older than four, and yet you had been a victim of a terrible crime. The shade of crimson, and the sounds of screams were still present in your small mind. Though a blur, you were not blind to the identity of those taken from you or the creatures responsible.

WHAT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? I TOTALLY HAVEN'T BEEN OBSESSED WITH CASTLEVANIA SINCE I WAS A SMOL. WHAT AN IMPOSSIBLE NOTION. WHAT A....MISERABLE LITTLE PILE OF SECRETS. (ha)
Honestly, I am so happy to write against for Castlevania. I started some longer series for it, but I just lost inspiration altogether. I might go back to them and reorganize and re-edit! But, I'm just happy to put something out for it again in general.
One of my favorite things about Symphony of the Night are the little interactions between Alucard and his familiars - particularly the bat and the fairies. The bat always has a little heart over his head when Alucard transforms into a bat! It's so stinkin' cute! The fairies just fret over him, especially when close to death, and then of course the green one sings to him when sitting in a chair. <3 (what a depressing lullaby tho what the hell) Little touches like that make a great game even better. So, here's a story about a fairy familiar with a crush on Alucard....because who honestly wouldn't? :'D (is predictable)
