Too much...
It was all too much...
The burden of life finally crumpled your weakened shoulders. The stress it caused made every strand of cartilage crack, and every one of your limbs tremble due to its weight. The anxiety settled into your vessels, freezing every one of them like dry ice, forcing your heart to beat and pound until you were sure it would burst. Relief seemed more than impossible to find. It was unobtainable. Utterly preposterous. A dream that fleeted instantly on waking. You mind delved into a bottomless abyss of fear, and you could feel it prickling the sensitive nerves of your skin. It choked you. Every breath you took felt like inhaling thick water, seeping down into your lungs.
All you wished for was a deep breath, one that would fully expand your lungs, allowing the life giving air to surge through you, and give you a little relaxation, even if it was only for a moment.
You observed the rim of the balcony, listening to the sounds below you, the cars honking, people talking, laughing, attending to their daily lives.
Why could you not join them? What was holding you back from joining your fellow citizens?
Fear.
Dread.
And over what?
Nothing more than a flame sparkling within you, scorching you, burning away whatever peace remained within you.
What would put it out?
Perhaps the wind against your face as you fell?
Perhaps your body colliding against the concrete of the street?
Maybe your heart working so desperately to keep you alive to halt altogether, refusing to feed the beast within?
All such tempting options in comparison to your wounded soul.
But, all the same,
you managed to utter one more prayer.
One more wish.
”Please...” Your whisper came lighter than the wings of a bird.
”Take it away...”
You stepped onto the edge. Eyes trembling from the weight of your tears, you watched the streaks of light go by.
You wanted to be that, a streak of light, sprinting away from all the terror and fears.
And so, gravity embraced you. It pulled you towards the ground, urging you, convincing you of a safe haven there, one in which you would never have to face the cloudiness of your mind or heart.
Still, you prayed.
Prayed for a rescuer.
At least one little strand of hope you could cling to.
As the wind caressed the contours of your face, your muscles slowly giving way to the earth’s pull, you closed your eyes.
”Your wish has been heard loud and clear.”
You stopped.
Your body ran frigid as it seemed to hang within the atmosphere, unseen by all.
Or rather...
Something was holding you up.
Your dulled senses had awakened again, and you managed to feel warmth. Warmth surrounded you. Strands of hair tickled your moistened cheeks.
And a smell, a unique aroma, intoxicated you, dragging you away from anything and everything plaguing you before.
You noticed the rough pavement beneath your shoes as you were placed back down where you belong. Though your limbs nearly gave way, a strong arm locked with yours holding you upright.
“You’re lucky,” came a voice softer than velvet. “That phantom nearly devoured you.”
What?
What nonsense were you listening to?
“Ph-Phantom?” you half whimpered, slowly peeling your eyes open.
Blue. Lustrous hues of crystal blue orbs peer into your own, etherial, otherworldly, yet possessing a kindness that brought peace to your beating heart.
And that aroma once again invaded your nostrils. You couldn’t define it but all you knew was the pleasant quality it contained, one that seemed to whisk away your troubles.
“Humans who are willing to allow themselves to be swallowed by their phantoms should be allowed to give way,” he pushed a lock of your hair behind your ear. “But, even in the face of death, all you wanted was to live.”
You glanced down at your palms, glistening with sweat, the remains of your anxiety symptoms.
But, one difference could not be ignored, one simple act that you so longed for but could barely muster enough strength for.
You breathed.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Your lungs expanded. You felt the tingling sensation of your worries ebbing away travel down to your toes, up to your fingertips.
You glanced back up at the figure. A small smile graced his features. A golden light flickered as he flipped a small item between his fingers.
5 yen.
A simple payment for granting such a significant wish.
With a slight bow, he said to you,
“May our paths once again intertwine.”
As he disappeared into the starry night, leaving you beneath the flickering street light, you smiled to yourself.
You were sure to cross paths again one day.
Until then, you simply replied, full of all the hope and gratitude in the world,
“See you later.”

As you watched the seconds turn to minutes, and the minutes turn to hours upon the clock of your hospital bed, you felt yourself giving up the tiniest bit of hope with each day that passed by. Wind: Yato x Reader
When he saw the brightly shining spirit floating on the wind, he knew he couldn't waste the chance. Yato cupped it gently in his hands, reveling in its gentle pulses of warmth. He breathed out slowly, thinking. ‘What would be a good name? Amane?' (天音) He cocked his head.
“Amane?” The spirit seemed to agree, glowing a little brighter as if in approval. “Then I name you Amane, and also Tenki.” The spirit glowed brightly before shifting into a [e/c]-eyed, [h/c]-haired girl. She blinked, slightly confused.
“What am I doing here? Who are you?” Yato was surprised.

" Everything okay? " You said to your little brother as you stood in the doorway of his room.
" Yes. " He sadly replied.
You walked over to him and gently kissed his forehead.
"Good night [B/n]. Don't worry everything will be okay, you'll see."
Your little brother nod his head and went to sleep. You gently shut the door behind you and made your way to your room. You climb into bed and led your head on your pillow.
" I hope we find him soon. Its been four days since he went missing. I still haven't found him." You said as you closed your eyes.
See, for the past few days your little brothers kitten had went missing. You and your little bro
